Why is Diversity Important?

Probiotics are living organisms (bacteria) that live symbiotically with you in your gut and overall have a positive effect on your body. In theory, all you need is something that says "probiotic" and your buddy is good, right?

Wrong. Variety is the spice of life. There are many brands out there that claim diversity, but the secret is that they are related and within one class of probiotics (usually lactic acid bacteria, like L. acidophilus). Those probiotics are awesome (which is why we included them), but fragile. They can die quickly--sometimes before the product even reaches your mailbox.

Enter soil-based probiotics. They were originally discovered in the soil, right where your dog loves to nose around. Once a normal part of our diet, modern agriculture techniques have made it really hard to get these from food.

SBOs are sturdy -- they have a protective endospore that acts as a shell that provides protection for the bacteria through processing, packaging and stomach acid, to deliver more bacteria to the gut, where it is most needed.

Diverse probiotics help make sure that your buddy is getting a good mix of everything he needs to take care of his gut.*
